As we age, we begin to lose volume, fatty tissue and bone. At Dr. Victoria Clinic we strongly believe less is more when it comes to dermal filler treatment, to create natural, refreshing enhancements. We delicately place hyaluronic acid dermal filler with precision to preserve facial bone structure and correct fat loss rather than to 'fill'. Dermal filler itself is a hyaluronic acid gel; hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body. 1ml is a very tiny amount, equating to the size of a blueberry, so patients should never fear looking "overfilled". By the time we reach our 30s we have lost as much as 4ml in volume from our face, more if we add rapid weight loss. We only use premium brands of medical grade, FDA and CE approved dermal filler such as Belotero by Merz, or Teoxane. The product used will depend on your assessment with the doctor. With time we lose volume above our lips which contributes to the formation of lines about the lips- often known as "smoker's lines"- these lines develop in all patients, regardless if they have smoked or not, over time. This treatment uses delicately placed dermal filler to blend the lines and make them less noticeable, and adds a tiny bit of support to the tissue above the lips. We do not want to add any volume in this area as this can look puffy or unnatural.
